Mental Attraction

Physically I’m not but mentally I am and that’s the best way to start. You’ve captured my mind and I know my heart is soon to follow. Many miles away but I refuse to let it dictate my feelings or my wants. Sense we are far apart we tell each other are options are open, but the door for us is not closed. I want to let you know you have the upper hand on these dudes, therefore your cards you shouldn’t fold. You’re a man of God, he’s close to your heart. You have goals and seek education. You have me smiling everyday and laughing so damn hard. It’s just this traveling aura about you that makes you so captivating. You have the access to my mind and that is something worthwhile and more than physical attraction. Knowing I’m with you are like Sunday mornings, peaceful and pleasant. If I had my way you would stay close or me even closer. For us I want a bond unheard of, a word undefined. Even distance couldn’t tame the connection we share. You have a smile that warms my heart, laughter that draws me into your soul. So when I get home standing in front of you, grab my hand and whisper to me “This is the true beginning”.

Like Sanaa Lathan in Brown Suger asked “When did you first fall in love with Hip Hop?” Fighting fit I fell in love with Hip Hop when I first heard Talib Kweli’s song Beautiful Struggle. It was a melody to the ears a song understanding the plight of the people in the ghetto. It amazed me how he could just capture the essence of struggle in such a concise and interesting way. The poetry flow, the deliverance and the educational insight made something in me give me the thirst for knowledge and understanding.

The purpose of Talib Kweli producing a crafted song like this was to provide an alternative route from today’s mainstream so called gangster rap. The song supplies you with the educational sense about today’s world but through music, noting that he feels what you go through. Example; “ Yo, I heard the revolution won’t be televised,” and the lyrics there after embeds its point of view how we are living in the days of greed and contradiction. We go to church to find religion but there’s more love offerings then tithing, govermant is no longer Republican and Democrat just an elephant face and a donkey’s behind. So what if his audience is that of the lower class or what some may call ghetto. So what if it reaches every ear and heart of a black American, he delivers what he sees or have saw.

Why does he call the struggle beautiful is his own interpretation. I find it beautiful because you fight for what is right, you make changes every step of the way influencing the mind and heart of others. There is nothing more beautiful than the art of leadership for a cause. With the love, understanding and comfort of progress and success, being in a struggle is beautiful because it makes you STRONGER.

Chivalry, Who Killed It?

Courtesy, honor, generosity and faithfulness the CODE of CHIVALRY is what made man a “knight” and worthy of the love of a woman. Chivalry has seemed to become irrelevant today (as I see it in my generation) and that is a tragic loss for both men and women.

As a young woman growing up we were taught to declare ourselves equal to men in all aspects and in no need of superior treatment. If only women would realize that chivalry was a way of showing respect and devotion, not condescension. So do we have any hope of ever regaining this lost system of virtue?

Chivalry will become revived when women begin acting like women again. We cannot blame all problems on men (not giving them any slack), however when girls learn to mature and get that condescending quote “I can do bad all by myself” out their minds then men can learn to respect them. No man wants to teach his girl what the mother should have done. Once you portray yourself in a certain way that’s the way you will be treated as, thus fighting for the attention of a guys eye is not the route. Our generation of young women is on a decline, but the name calling, baby out of wedlock, and sex confusion is on a rise do to the misconception that all men (or women) are perfect or the I'm too independent role. The "I don’t need a man, I’m independent by myself" way of thinking. Don’t get me wrong being independent is good, however there are boundaries a woman should have and that’s where a man steps in hint hint “CHIVALRY”.

I am a product of my mother and a child of God, so I know my place as a woman. Do you?

Victor Mr 007 Griffin

Victor “Mr. 007” Griffin is an upcoming artist in mist. Saturday August 20th was his mixtape release party, and being a sister and friend to him I went in full affect and showed my support. Never under estimating this young man to my surprise what I was hearing throughout the speakers was authentic talent. He was eating on each bar. Not negating anyone who he is affiliated with but this young man has pure talent. I shared Mr. 007 (B.M.E) 1st single No Way No How and a few other tracks with a few artist and connects, off the back they were loving it. The No Way video was quoted”to have a old Bone Thugs N Harmony type feel” another stated “its lyrically legit”. Below I have embedded the No Way video for you guys to check out. Be sure to check back because Mr. 007 will be on many other blogs to come and I will share each link and the movement with you guys.
